I am a landscaper by trade but my winter off season provides no income for 3 to 4 months. So,I started making candles in the winter months. At first I made them just for myself because I got tired of paying high prices for store bought candles that sit on the shelf and lose their scent. We have NO candle stores in our area unless you want to take out a 2nd mortgage to buy the Yankee candles at Hallmark.Yeah they smell GREAT,but the cost is way over my budget. And wouldn't you know it,we get a Cracker Barrel here finally that have my all time favorite candles, the Hearth & Home cake candles. And the price of them was VERY reasonable.I was gleeful for a while until they just stopped selling them! I just don't get it! Now I have to order them online until I can figure out how they make them.HA!
I started making highly scented candles for myself as well as family and friends for Christmas and birthday gifts, but eventually I got a good stock of all kinds and started selling them on Ebay.
They were selling like hotcakes but I wasn't making anything after fees and shipping and all that so now I am looking for places to peddle them.I am in the process of labeling and packaging everything.Hopefully I can get this website going,as well as some area businesses and I may even take a chance on a few craft shows around my area and eventually sell a few.I will gain experience through trial and error, much the same as I did with gardening.
I make my candles the same way I would buy them. They HAVE to be strongly scented and sealed to maintain the fragrance oils I use in them.I use Parrafin and soy mixture for most pillars and soy wax for containers and tarts.Soy wax is a soft, non toxic natural wax made from soybeans. It burns cleaner and retains it's scent for a VERY long time, which is the most important feature in scented candles.
I have a few Ebay auctions going now and I will provide a link to my past auctions in case I don't have room for all the photos on this page. I take payment through PayPal,money orders or personal checks. My shipping is only 2.50 for most items.Larger containers and big pillars will be 4.00.thanks for stopping by!
